The Kugti Pass Trek route generally begins from the Bharmour region of Chamba district and continues towards Kugti Village, one of the traditional settlements in the area. From Kugti, the trail climbs through forests and alpine landscapes towards higher grazing grounds and remote mountain valleys.

The route becomes progressively more challenging as trekkers gain altitude, with rocky terrain, steep sections, mountain streams, and potentially snow-covered trails depending on the season. The final ascent leads to Kugti Pass, at approximately 5,050 metres, where trekkers can experience expansive views of the surrounding Pir Panjal mountains.

After crossing the pass, the trail descends towards the Lahaul side, eventually connecting with the Udaipur region.
